TrainSIM is a simulation of operating a freight train. It's not a game -- it's as realistic a simulation as I can create, and will continue to increase in realism as I discover new performance information to add. Factors such as grade (on a car-by-car basis), curve (on a car-by-car basis), throttle, and brake are all factored into the speed & acceleration equations.
When you start TrainSIM, you cn choose the number of cars and engines in your train, and a track line to navigate. You'll have to choose carefully, because too few engines on a hilly line can mean a very slow trip -- or worse!
TrainSIM also incldes a built-in track designer. You control the degree of curve and grade as you lay track. Of course, grades and curves make the trip that much more difficult. Curves can be especially dangerous because of the very real possibility of derailing if you hit a curve too fast. So don't forget to post those speed limit signs coming into your curves!!
